The 26th edition of the MILO Schools Basketball Championship brought together young basketball talents from across Nigeria for a season of competition, determination and teamwork.
This year’s theme, “More Than a Game: Raising Champions with Grit,” came to life on every court. The players showed that grit is not just about pushing through. It is about staying disciplined, working together, staying determined, and giving your best until the final buzzer. Because the qualities that help you compete can also help you go further beyond the court.
THE ROAD TO THE FINALS
It was no easy road for the more than 30,000 schools across Nigeria that took part in the competition. The championship tipped off in May in Kano State before moving through Ilorin, Asaba and Ibadan. At every stop, young athletes competed for their schools and chased their shot at the title.
This journey ended at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, where the top-performing teams battled for the national titles. After months of competition, two schools emerged as national champions.

THE BOYS’ CHAMPIONS: KING AMAKREE ACADEMY
King Amakree Academy, Obuama, Rivers State won the boys’ title at the national finals.
The team put together a strong run through the different stages of the championship to secure the win at the national finals.

Government Secondary School, Gboko, Benue State secured the girls’ title at the 2026 national finals.
